I would say a lot of Muslims just go through the motions out of habit and obligation then any real meaning. Its not any of my concern what anyone does and how they do it as long as its not forced unto me.

If I were to say Marry a Muslim girl she would have to be a secular Muslim meaning the only thing Muslim about her is what's printed on her ID card. I would get the "on paper" convert so the marriage is legal and be done with it.

Out of fairness for any kids we would have they would be raised Buddhists being that Buddhism is not a religion per se.
