All the good wish for your father.

Not so long my father have also fall from a ladder, not really high, but enough for tear off a muscle of the shoulder, he still can not lift up this arm more high than horizontally.
While he was in recovery, my mom need to stop him to do any kind of thing like... repairing the trailer, repairing the shed, repairing...
It was extremely hard for him to stay at home and doing noting!

Recently my brother who live nearby them have need to stop the willing of my father for repair the roof of the house himself... Gooosh! He really not learn!

All of his ribs were broken near to the spine - so he is very lucky that it was not far more serious- also he is very lucky that the electronic hedge cutters did not get him too.

Nice to know thing are not so bad.
Broken rib are painfull and will probably give him trouble to breath. Hope he will get better soon.

Yesterday I buy a brand new helmet.
So much more nice when your vision is not blur by too much scratch and the helmet don't wander everywhere because it is too much big big for you!

That make the ride even more enjoyable!
