Does anybody here know of an agent that can help reduce cost of overstaying? Please PM me.

I don't see how an agent can reduce the cost of an overstay. Their fees would probably take more then any savings.

What was his/her immigration/visa status in Indonesia before overstaying?

How long has he/she been overstaying?

Overstaying fee is 300k per day. Longer than 60 days you can negotiate with them. If you're lucky they will let you get away for free. But of course, overstaying for more than 60 days will cause your name to appear in the Black List in their system that will last varying from few months to years. you will need help then from someone in Indonesia to erase it for you, should you plan a come back .

Up to 60 days , one just need to pay the fine . More than 60 days Immigration will have to detain the foreigner until they check if no crimes were committed and if not , the foreigner will be deported and probably blacklisted .

Unfortunately the page is outdated . The main differences are that now :
              - it is not a crime if one overstays for more than 60 days ,
              - the fine for overstaying up to 60 days is now Rp300'000 per day .

              UU no.6 , year 2011
              .......
              CHAPTER VII - ADMINISTRATIVE ACTIONS
              .......
              Article 78
              (1) Holder of an expired Stay Permit but still in the Indonesia for less than 60 (sixty) days from the expiry date of the Stay Permit is charged in accordance with the provisions of the legislation.

              (2) Foreigner who do not pay the charges referred to in paragraph (1) is subject to Administrative Measures and Deportation in the form of deterrence.

              (3) Holder of an expired Stay Permit but still in Indonesia for more than 60 (sixty) days from the expiry date of the Stay Permit is subjected to Administrative Measures and Deportation in the form of deterrence.

Note : The above is not the official translation

I been charged with a fee of 250k rupiahs for an overstay of 1 day.
Basically...this happened to me: 2 days before the expiration..... i asked to reniew my visa (visa on arrival 30 days....i wanted to stay 30 more).
The worker of Kantor Imigrasi said the computers were not working...and asked me kindly to come back the day after. So i did.
The day after...i was approached by a man...who asked me 150k rupiah to renew my visa. He was not an Imigrasi Office worker. He was just an "helper" (standing outside and looking for "customers").
I refused kindly the request of that man...and wolked into the office..... The officier said the computers were not working again.... and he could have not renew my visa.
The day after i was officially in overstay. When i arrived at the Kantor Imigrasi... the Police caught my passport, they took my fingerprints, made me a picture like a criminal/gangster..... and told me to wait.

God bless my partner who is indonesian.... she signed up a document where she was responsible of me. I paid a fee of 250/300k rupiah and then i had back my passport (after a wait of 4 hours).

In this time i felt lost and really in trouble without my passport.... Neither my Embassy could have helped me.... Just me, myself and i......

                        What did i learn ?

Pay.....the right worker/people....to prevent the troubles... because when you are in troubles.... nobody knows....how it ends....
                        Never get upset or angry......
Always wear elegant clothes when you get in public offices (no t-shirt)...
