    I hope that converting my SosBud to a Kitas would be easy and smooth as the nearest immigration office is an hour and a half's drive away from my wife's place.

    Yes, I asked and they told me it would take 3 days. Today is already the 5th day and they are not opened tomorrow. I went there again yesterday at 4.30pm and the assured me that I will get it today. Keeping my fingers crossed now as they have also assured me that I would get it on Wednesday when I submitted my Visa application on Monday.

    Anyway, just wanted to update on my visa application applied here at the KJRI Kota Kinabalu,Sabah,Malaysia.

    Paid RM205 for the visa and submitted on Monday morning but still have yet to received it. Was told that it would take 3 days meaning to say i would have gotten it by yesterday. They told me they would call me if it was ready. Hopefully it can b done by tomorrow as they arec closed on Saturday's.

    the format of the sponsorship letter has changed too. Will try to upload the new format here. Took a picture of it that day. The immigration lady at the consulate was nice enough to help me re-type the letter in its new format.

    Thank you very much,marcus.

    By the way,my wife’’s place is Tulungagung,Jatim. Anyone from around that area?

    Hi everyone,

    I am retired and going to apply for my SOSBUD visa sponsored by my Indonesian wife in a few days time in KJRI in Kota Kinabalu,Sabah,Malaysia.
    Does anyone know or is kind enough to direct me to a link on how to type out the sponsorship letter?
    I have been googling online. Some sites says I need a signature of the Pak RT with a Rp6000 meterai and some says I dont.
    Some says I need a copy of my wife's bank statement and some says I dont.
    I tried to call the KJRI mentioned but they are just not answering.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    a- Well , considering that you would live 1 or 2 years in Indonesia , you could stay only with Sosbud Visas (having to get a new one every 180 days in a nearby country , Singapore for example) .
    Getting a KITAS from a Sosbud Visa (no need to leave Indonesia) is only possible if you are eligible and the sponsor for both Sosbud and KITAS is the same (example : the Indonesian you will marry before requesting the KITAS , or the Indonesian school where you will study , or ...)

    b- If you do the bureaucracy by yourself , the first 1 year Student KITAS will cost USD105 + Rp2'055'000 . An agent will charging you starting from around Rp4 million (you still need to pay USD105 to the Embassy or pay another agent to do the Visa too which will add some USD80) . The prices for the following KITAS are the same except that you don't pay the USD105 anymore . You extend a KITAS without leaving Indonesia .

    c- No , because it is sponsored by the school .

    Note : Sosbud and KITAS require an Indonesian based sponsor (theoretically responsible for you financially) .

    -------------------------------------------

    Below are the people eligible for a KITAS :
    a. investor;
    b. Work expert;
    c. carry out clergy duties;
    d. participate in education and training;
    e. conduct scientific research;
    f. join the husband or wife holding the Limited Stay Permit/KITAS;
    g. join the Indonesian father and/or mother
    h. join father and/or mother holding the Limited Stay Permit/KITAS , if under 18 (eighteen) years and unmarried;
    i. Ex-Indonesian citizen; and
    j. Foreigner over 55 years old.
