Hi all
Need someone's advice and help. We had married in Singapore under Singapore laws and only last year, notified the local civil registry office for marriages in Jakarta about this marriage. My spouse is Indonesian while I am Singaporean. It was a simple process and the office gave a certificate stating this fact within a week. Now, we are getting divorced in Singapore legal system, uncontested and with no kids, short marriage. After the divorce is granted, I wanted to know what is the process of updating this 'marriage status' in the local Civil registry office..i.e how to obtain another certificate stating that now we are divorced overseas.
The confusion is because enquiry with ciivl registry office itself seems to suggest its again a simple straightforward process involving submission of divorce order from Singapore court (autheniticated by the Indonesian embassy )..however, someone said to me that it still requires a court order from local court here to effect this change...this may take months to happen for a marriage never performed under Indonesian laws or Religious ways before.
Hope someone is able to advise properly on this or guide me to correct person/firm soon..
thanks
